*The manufacturing industry is living through a digital renaissance geared around the interconnection and cooperation of the resources of the industrial system (plants, people, information) both within the factory and along the whole value chain.

This fourth industrial revolution, commonly known as "Industry 4.0" is founded on the production, analysis and consumpion of operational data. In fact the devices, systems and people that engage in those activities need to be connected to each other constantly, with high reliability. For that reason, networks are at the core of Industry 4.0 implementations.

In this framework, 5G technologies that enable faster data rates, shorter response times, higher connection density, and network slicing are today as a key enabler for the factory of the future and will impact on factory processes, logistics and company ICT systems.

To understand the opportunities and the challenges of 5G, IDC in collaboration with Trust-IT presents the webinar "How 5G can support transformation in Manufacturing sector" on 11th July 2019. The webinar presents an opportunity to hear experts discuss the needs and benefits expected by Manufacturing industry stakeholders, as the sector drives transformation. In particular, we will discuss:

  • The main use cases for 5G in the Manufacturing sector, with a particular focus around the factory floor
  • How the ecosystem is moving: activities of major players in the industry
  • Key takeaways and action items for manufacturing companies willing to embrace this technology to transform their business processes
