Infections caused by MDR gram-negative bacilli have become a growing problem. We are in need of new compound classes and antibiotics developed specifically for MDR gram-negative bacilli.
This webinar will provide an overview of and update on the current state of resistance frequency and what drugs are being developed to address gram-negatives.
Brad Spellberg, MD will discuss the historical context, current antibiotic crisis, unmet need and reasons for the collapse of antibacterials in this area and what needs to be done to resolve things. Brad will then hand it off to Robert and Joyce who will discuss resistance mechanisms and the current pipeline. Robert Bonomo, MD will speak to the resistance challenges in gram-negative bacteria. He will explain why acinetobacter and pseudomonas are resistant to all antibiotics and what there is to offer. Joyce Sutcliffe, PhD will provide an overview of the different compounds in development for key gram-negative pathogens.
