WEBINAR OR ON-DEMAND WEB LINK
Thursday, October 27, 2016
12:00 pm – 1:30 pm MST – AZ
1:00 pm – 2:30 pm MDT – CO/WY
This webinar will build on the basics outlined in Part 1 of this series regarding NCUA’s financial literacy regulations. However, it can also stand alone as a primer on understanding credit union financial statements. Directors are required to analyze results with “reasonable inquiry,” meaning you must be able to ask management the right questions. Join us to learn how to use ratios and trend analysis to independently research your credit union’s performance. These proven techniques can also be used to study other credit unions and learn about their performance.
*Review a sample balance sheet and income statement
*Assets, liabilities, and equity accounts
*How ratios can tell you so much more than raw numbers
*Develop trend lines to monitor credit union progress over time
*How peer analysis lets you monitor your credit union against others
*Calculate key ratios, including the net worth and return on assets ratios
*Guide to understanding financial statements
*Templates to calculate five key ratios for your credit union
*Employee training log
*Quiz you can administer to measure staff learning and a separate answer key
