In the last 10 years, we have experienced an exponential increase in the use of informational technology in the medical field. When being utilized as intended, technology can offer more consistent and efficient results. However, with every new technological development there arises a host of unintended consequences for potential error, malfunction, and human error from over reliance on equipment. How does the advent of smart technology give rise to a wholly new level of HIPAA concern in the data breach cases? In this program, these issues will be examined, and strategies for reducing the potential for error and exposure will be discussed.
