Prescription drug abuse, particularly opioid abuse, is a national public health concern. The Centers for Disease Control reported that deaths from opioids have quadrupled since 1999 and accounted for more than 16,000 deaths in 2010 alone. Learn about the statistics of illicit drug use, the workers’ compensation issues related to opioid drug abuse, and how one hospital implemented a successful program to identify and address this epidemic in their community.
