Wouldn’t it be great if students were as motivated about their school work as some of them are about video games? You can help them to be! There are some easy steps that you can take to take advantage of some of the key motivational concepts that game makers use in video games. Drawing on the work of game design theorists, this workshop will outline a number of game design concepts and theories that can be clearly applied to teaching and course design. We’ll go over concepts like how to gamify your grading structure, designing for flow, Bartle’s player types, and more.
