The Environmental Defence Society (EDS) has a well-established reputation for delivering highly topical and thought-provoking conferences that help to define the environmental issues of our time, and act as a catalyst for change. This year the conference is exploring the Wild Places that define Aotearoa. It will look at how to shift investment towards conservation. It will draw on insights from international and local experience to explore novel conservation management tools. It will challenge delegates to image a utopia for New Zealand’s Wild Places and come up with creative pathways for how to get there.
EDS recognises that it is important that young kiwis have a voice in this discussion because ultimately, the future of New Zealand’s Wild Places is in their hands. It has set aside 5 complimentary registrations for youth delegates to inject some fresh thought and enthusiasm into the debate. Successful applicants will be expected to actively participate in the conference workshop session and to share the conference korero with their peers.
The scholarship is available for high school and university students. It covers conference registration and the conference dinner. It does not include travel or accommodation expenses.
Tell us in 250 words what you will bring to and gain from attending the conference, and how you will share the conference korero.
APPLICATIONS HAVE CLOSED. Submitters will be notified mid-July.
