The Winter 2011 Turbine Generator Users Group (TGUG) workshop and meeting will be held January 17th- 21st, 2011 in Houston, Texas at the OMNI Hotel.
The Turbine Generator Users Group workshop will be held Monday and Tuesday, January 17th and 18th.
On Monday, a joint turbine-generator session will be held with the following agenda items:
8:00am-12noon
A session on Human Performance addressing issues in the utility industry focused on turbine generators and how to prevent human error with example presentations by utilities.
1:00pm-5:00pm
A session on the following topics:
- Turbine generation vibration analysis
- Generator field removal and installation- Best practices for shortest schedule
- Understanding generator motoring and its effects on the turbine
- Other presentations TBD
On Tuesday, (8:00am-5:00pm) separate sessions will be conducted for turbines and generators.
Turbine Session title: Quality Assurance of Turbine Generator Manufacturing and Component Repairs
Generator Session title: Generator Rotor, Collector Ring, Brushes, and Rotating Exciter Condition Assessment workshop
A Vendor Fair will again be conducted on Monday and Tuesday evening, January 17th and 18th, with approximately 35 vendors participating.
On Wednesday and Thursday (January 19th-20th, 8:00am-5:00pm, and Friday, January 21st, 7:00am-12noon), the Turbine Generator Users Group (TGUG) meeting will be conducted. The Turbine Generator Users Group meeting will follow the same format as past meetings. Members will again be engaged in a 4-hour roundtable discussion of topics decided by the attendees. The Original Equipment Manufacturers will make presentations on issues which have been requested by the members. Individual presentations will be made by utility representatives with special presentations by select vendors/consultants. The details of the meeting will be posted on this site at a later date as speakers and topics are finalized with the Turbine Generator Users Group officers.
The group will tour the TurboCare turbine blading and repair facility on Thursday afternoon, January 20th. Transportation to the tour will be provided by EPRI.
