Social Enterprise Challenge
The Cinema Corner, a special feature of the Women Deliver 2013 global conference, will build on the success of the inaugural Cinema Corner that took place at the 2010 Women Deliver conference in Washington, DC. The 2013 Cinema Corner will include three days of screenings running concurrent to the conference.
The screenings will put a “face” to Women Deliver’s mission of reducing maternal mortality and improving access to reproductive health. The Cinema Corner will engage filmmakers, media outlets, and audiences in film-related advocacy opportunities, and relay the message that the arts is an important element of Women Deliver’s approach to making a more equitable world for girls and women.
We are delighted to have the Cinema Corner curated by Lisa Russell, an Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker who has produced films on issues such as maternal health, youth in conflict zones, the HIV/AIDS pandemic, food insecurity and many other global challenges.
The application process for the Cinema Corner is now closed.
Social Enterprise Challenge
To highlight new, innovative ideas that impact the health and well-being of girls and women, Women Deliver is organizing a Social Enterprise Challenge.
The Social Enterprise Challenge will take place on May 30th within the Exhibition Hall of the Women Deliver conference. Women Deliver has selected 10 Social Enterprise Challenge contestants from the pool of semi-finalists for the Echoing Green Fellowship. These 10 contestants will pitch their social enterprise idea to a panel of judges comprised of individuals who understand the field of social enterprise and the challenges of taking a great idea and bringing it to scale.
The format will include a social enterprise pitch, followed by a short discussion period. The panel of judges will choose one of the 10 presenters to receive the “Global Solution Award” for 2013.
All 10 contestants will receive Women Deliver 2013 scholarships to cover conference-related costs, including registration fee, flight, lodging and per diem. Additionally, the Social Enterprise Challenge contestants will be given the opportunity to request pro-bono legal services from TrustLaw Connect, the Thomson Reuters Foundation award-winning service that links the best lawyers and law firms around the world with high impact NGOs and social enterprises in need of free legal assistance.
The application process is now closed.
