The Work Planning Users Group (WPUG) was formed in February 2006 through collaborative efforts of nuclear power utilities, the Institute of Nuclear Power Operators (INPO), and EPRI in response to the need for a more organized body to drive performance improvement in Maintenance Planning.
Purpose
The primary purpose of the Work Planning Users Group is:
* To improve maintenance effectiveness and equipment reliability by continuously improving the work package quality and planning departmental performance.
* To develop and/or share proven industry methods and processes regarding work package preparation, execution and feedback.
* This initiative will provide consistent strategic and tactical standards by capturing industry best practices, operating experience, and by further defining and improving the process for work package preparation, execution and feedback at existing and new generation plants.
Scope
The group will focus its activities on the following:
* Identify issues and develop solutions to work package quality and common work planning issues
* Enhance planner skills through effective training programs
* Establish and maintain counterpart contact information
* Establish methods to improve communication among industry peers
* Schedule periodic meetings to share successes, challenges and prioritize issues
* Solve issues and leverage solutions developed among many utilities
* Monitor and apply applicable industry practices and methods to improve planning tools and processes
* Identify and define work planning metrics that monitor, predict and ensure efficient work planning processes
Note: 1) Be sure to bring at least one sample work package with you to share and critique.
Who should attend
Nuclear Work Planning Managers, Supervisors, Lead Planning and other plant personnel responsible for work planning, planning programs and assessment activities.
