Over the last five years, there has been an increased worldwide interest in understanding the costs of nuclear power construction. More specifically, the interest includes trends for overnight construction cost (OCC), levelized cost of electricity (LCOE), labor and construction costs as a function of global location, and the potential role of future R&D to reduce such costs. Other studies on these topics date back to the 1970s and, in some cases, do not fully clarify cost categories to which they are associated. This workshop is intended to provide industry stakeholders with the opportunity to learn more about EPRI’s project on Economics Based R&D.View/Download Event Flyer
To improve upon the industry’s understanding of construction costs, the Electric Power Research Institute has launched a project titled, Economics-Based R&D for New Nuclear Plant Development. The objective of the project is to provide more details about the costs of building a nuclear power plant. Based on the increased detail, the project will develop a focused roadmap that targets the greatest research needs for reducing construction costs of nuclear power plants – ALWRs, SMRs, and non-water cooled reactors.
Given that objective, we want to hear from you. EPRI is co-hosting a workshop with GAIN and NEI where attendees will: • Learn about the recent international studies on cost drivers. • Hear about the specific results coming from EPRI’s cost study on construction. • Engage in open discussion about technologies that can reduce construction costs.
There is a limited number of seats so register early.
