Overview

We invite you to join us for a festive evening of connection and engagement at Yale Explores, a series designed to bring together the Yale community and offer an interdisciplinary exploration of challenges facing our world. Members of the Yale faculty will approach Being Human in the Age of Intelligent Machines from a variety of perspectives, and President Peter Salovey will highlight Yale's vital role in addressing this topic. Before and after the presentation, join your fellow alumni, parents, and friends for food, drink, and networking.

Yale Explores…
Being Human in the Age of Intelligent Machines

What does it mean to be human in the age of intelligent machines? How will artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, and as-yet-unforeseen advances in computer and other sciences affect the human experience? How are humans adapting now—and how will we adapt in the future? What could be lost or gained? What are some of the ethical questions we will need to address?

The work of Yale professors Shelly Kagan, Laurie Santos, and Brian Scassellati spans the fields of computer science, engineering, philosophy, and psychology. Join them for an interdisciplinary exploration of living in a technology-driven world. The conversation will be moderated by Margaret Warner 71, senior fellow at the Yale Jackson Institute for Global Affairs, and former chief global affairs correspondent at PBS Newshourand will conclude with reflections from President Peter Salovey ’86 Ph.D.

Space is limited and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Registrants are limited to one guest per person.

Event co-sponsored by BOLD Alumni at Yale, Yale Alumni Association, Yale Club of Monterey, Yale Club of Sacramento, Yale Club of San Francisco, Yale Club of Silicon Valley, Yale Alumni Art League, YaleWomen, Association of Asian American Yale Alumni, and Yale Blue Green.
