Yale Explores...Being Human in the Age of Intelligent Machines

We invite you to join fellow alumni, parents, and friends for an evening of connection and engagement at Yale Explores, a series designed to bring together the Yale community and offer an interdisciplinary exploration of challenges facing our world.

If you’re new to New York City, please be sure to stop by the tables in the reception area hosted by the local clubs and shared interest groups. We’d love to meet you and let you know how you can get involved with the Yale community in New York!

Yale Explores…
Being Human in the Age of Intelligent Machines

What does it mean to be human in the age of intelligent machines? How will artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, and as-yet-unforeseen advances in computer and other sciences affect the human experience? How are humans adapting now—and how will we adapt in the future? What could be lost or gained? What are some of the ethical questions we will need to address? Join us for Yale Explores: Being Human in the Age of Intelligent Machines as three of Yale’s stellar faculty members explore questions like these from the perspectives of their various disciplines.

The work of Yale professors Shelly Kagan, Laurie Santos, and Brian Scassellati spans the fields of computer science, engineering, philosophy, and psychology. Join them for an interdisciplinary exploration of living in a technology-driven world. The conversation will be introduced by Catharine Bond Hill ’85 Ph.D., senior trustee of the Yale Board of Trustees, moderated by Margaret Warner '71, Senior Fellow, Yale Jackson Institute for Global Affairs and Former Chief Global Affairs Correspondent at PBS NewsHour, and will conclude with reflections from President Peter Salovey ’86 Ph.D.

Event co-sponsored by: Association of Asian American Yale Alumni, Association of Yale Alumni, BOLD Alumni at Yale, yale.NYC, Yale Blue Green, Yale Club of New York City, Yale GALA: Yale's LGBTQ Alumni Association, Yale Jewish Alumni Association
