Overview

The goal of this Youth Engagement in-person workshop is to provide adults with the information and skills they need to successfully prepare, guide, support and encourage youth to assume a variety of spokesperson roles. 

Who should attend?

Target audience: This statewide Youth Engagement in-person workshop training is tailored for Local Implementing Agency staff, and/or their youth engagement subcontractors. This training may be of particular interest to adults supporting or planning to support youth as spokespersons. 

LIAs, SIAs, Subcontractors

Experience level: Beginner to intermediate

Learning Objectives

After the workshop, attendees will be able to:

  • Understand the challenges and opportunities in recruiting youth as spokespersons. 
  • Identify specific audience segments, their unique needs and how to tailor youth presentations to those realities. 
  • Explain key preparatory steps youth should take before engaging in a speaking role. 
  • Understand basic messaging techniques and how best to help youth apply those techniques.
  • Know what existing resources are available to support youth as spokespersons and how to access those tools and resources. 
  • Coach youth in preparation of a successful speaking or interview opportunity.
