Antigua and Barbuda Meeting Planning Overview

An island nirvana brimming with activities like snorkeling, diving, sailing and sun bathing, Antigua and Barbuda provide the quintessential kick-off-your-shoes Caribbean experience. Antigua has a well-developed tourism infrastructure with many Antigua event venues, while Barbuda is an undeveloped paradise away from the tourist hordes.

Situated in the middle of the Leeward Islands in the Eastern Caribbean, Antigua and Barbuda are near the islands of Montserrat and Guadaloupe to the south and Nevis, St. Kitts, St. Barts and St. Martin to the north and west.

Airlines serving Antigua's V.C. Bird International Airport are Air Canada, American Airlines, Caribbean Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta and U.S. Airways.

Smaller upscale properties in spectacular settings with limited space dominate hotel venues in Antigua and Barbuda, but these are ideal for executive retreats, small meetings and incentive programs. Heading the list of options are the 82-room Carlisle Bay with 1,000 square feet of meeting space, 250-room St. James's Club-Antigua with 2,000 square feet of meeting space, 200-room Verandah Resort & Spa with 2,000 square feet of meeting space and 72-room Curtain Bluff Resort with 1,000 square feet of meeting space.

With an impressive collection of yachts for an island its size, there are several companies offering charters for activities like day sails, team building, spouse programs, parties and casual on-the-water meetings.

The action on Antigua and Barbuda predominantly takes place on the brilliantly colored waters framing the islands with a seemingly endless line-up of activities such as sailing, yacht and deep-sea fishing charters, diving and snorkeling excursions, Scuba diving trips, kayaking and windsurfing. On terra firma, popular pursuits include eco-tours, zip lining, hiking, scooter rentals and tennis.

Dining venues in Antigua and Barbuda are surprisingly diverse with restaurants offering French, Mediterranean, Creole and Caribbean cuisine. Most resorts have excellent on-site restaurants.
