...The Atlanta History Center is one of the largest history museums in the Southeast. The center includes two historic homes, the Swan House and the Tullie Smith farm, in addition to six historic gardens and the Centennial Olympic Games Museum. Visitors to the Center are given the opportunity to experience the living history of Atlanta as period-costumed tour guides tell the stories of the people that once inhabited the area.
See how meat was preserved in the smokehouse, watch horseshoes be made at the blacksmith shop, and even learn how a loom works. Other interesting exhibits include Down the Fairway with Bobby Jones, which tells the story of American golf legend Bobby Jones, Jr., as well as the renowned Masters Golf Tournament, and Shaping Traditions: Folk Arts in a Changing South, which showcases the evolution of Southern folk culture through quilting, woodwork, pottery and more.
The Atlanta History Center has several spaces available for rent and can accommodate groups of up to 500 people. Hours of operation vary based upon exhibit. Ticket prices are inclusive of all exhibits at the Center including the gardens, Tullie Smith Farm and Swan House. Prices are $10 for youths ages 4-12 and $15 for adults. Children under the age of 3 receive free admission.

The Museum offers multiple weekly drop-in art programs for families, as well as a variety of other special programs throughout the year. Most of the programs are free of charge with museum admission. On Saturdays and Sundays, the museum offers free family tours.

The museum demonstrates Dr. King's influence on history through books, audio and video cassettes, film, television and more. Notable artifacts that are showcased at the Center include King's Bible and clerical robe, the key to his hotel room at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis where he was assassinated, and several handwritten sermons. The museum's library comprises the largest collection of documentation of the civil rights movement in the world.
Not only does the museum tell the story of King's life, it is also the resting place of this great leader. Visitors to the King Center are given an opportunity to reflect as they stroll along the Freedom Walkway to the white-marble crypt, reflecting pool and eternal flame that designate King's tomb. A Chapel of all faiths is also part of the site, representing Dr. King's ecumenical work.
The King Center is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM. Admission is free.

The Desert House showcases bizarre plants from Madagascar and Southern Africa including cycads, Aloes and Lithops.
Outdoors, more than 160 different types of Hydrangea and an impressive collection of roses can be enjoyed during the months of May and June. The brick-lined sidewalks serve as a reminder of the people who made the park possible: more than 10,275,000 letters are engraved on the commemorative bricks given to help fund the historic Atlanta Development.
The park host many free seasonal events including Music @ Noon, a live music event held from noon to 1pm on Tuesday and Thursday from April through October designed to give working-professionals a break from their workday, and Wednesday WindDown, Atlanta's longest running concert series. Today, the park acts as a recreational area covered with inviting park benches, scenic walking and running trails, a lake for fishing, basketball courts, tennis facilities and a swimming pool.
The park has also become a popular location for special events and weddings. Magnolia Hall can seat up to 200 people for a plated dinner offering more than 3,200 square feet of event space. The facility boasts a brick fire place, an exposed wooden beam ceiling, oak paneling, marbleized flooring and lantern-style lighting create a wonderful setting for a variety of events. Magnolia Hall can also be used in conjunction with the adjoining courtyard. Four outdoor events, the Clara Meer Dock is the perfect location. Here, guests can enjoy beautiful views of the lake and park, defined by landscaped boardwalks and stone steps.
