Festival Hall Baden-Baden

Germany’s largest opera house is one of the finest addresses for classical music worldwide. The program inspires with such artists and ensembles as Anne Sophie Mutter, Anna Netrebko, and the Berliner Philharmoniker, which celebrates its Easter Festival here every year. Audiences can choose between opera, ballet, concerts, jazz performances, and musical shows. They come again and again, often becoming part of the Festival Hall's family of private sponsors. A solidarity of this kind is unique in Europe, but it comes as no surprise. Firstly, the Festival Hall is deeply rooted in history: the architecture and music exude the spirit of the great composers and interpreters of the nineteenth century who enjoyed many happy stays in Baden-Baden – Johannes Brahms, Clara Schumann, and Richard Wagner are just a few of the many luminaries who spent time here. Architecturally, the magnificent historic facade merges with a modern concert hall featuring some of the best acoustics in the world. And the well-being of the guest is always paramount: the service team addresses each person’s individual needs, and the sophisticated in-house restaurant is regularly supervised by top chef Harald Wohlfahrt and inspired by his creations. Did you know that it is possible to host events and hold meetings in the very same place where the world’s leading artists perform? Germany’s largest opera house raises its curtain and opens the doors to its rooms for small, select festivities – far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Trinkhalle Baden-Baden

Take a stroll along the impressive frontage of the Trinkhalle, Baden-Baden's Pump Room, with its Corinthian pillars and striking murals. Ever since Roman times, people have stood on this spot and enthused over Baden-Baden and the healing powers of its water. The Trinkhalle (pump house) in the Kurhaus spa complex was built 1839–1842 by Heinrich Hübsch in a complementary architectural style as the spa's main building. The 90-metre arcade is lined with frescos and 16 Corinthian columns. If you stroll through the arcade you can see 14 mural paintings which show different scenes of the region.

Casino Baden-Baden

When night falls in Baden-Baden, the Kurhaus with its elegant casino reveals its best side: radiant and full of life. At the casino, ‘rien ne va plus’ (no more bets) only applies to gambling. Otherwise, the sky’s the limit here. The gambling options are both diverse and exotic, with roulette, blackjack, poker and punto banco awaiting you in the shimmering belle époque environment of the large gambling hall. However, if you prefer to gamble in a more intimate, almost private setting, then switch to the new Club Bernstein, where you can also play poker and roulette. Casino Baden-Baden has managed to create an environment in which inspiration arises and can be further developed and applied as a basis for creativity and relaxation. And this is a proud tradition in Baden-Baden, as gambling has always been part of a large production here, boasting flair, splendour, style and charm – attributes which to this day still make Baden-Baden so attractive and unmistakable. In the days of the belle époque, the international jet set flocked to Baden-Baden, including Russian state council members, English lords, plantation owners from Java, literary figures and composers from Paris and Moscow. Not much has changed since then. Well-known names from business, society and politics, stars and celebrities, ‘it girls’ and visitors from near and far have played their roles. To this day, Germany’s oldest casino is still one of the most popular destinations in Europe, a hot spot for the world’s high society and all of those who would like to be a part of it for a few unforgettable moments. Shows and concerts, classical and rock, dance and party – every day at Casino Baden-Baden is a social highlight. In other words, the casino is the ultimate place to be for night owls. You get together, converse and delve into an unbelievably vibrant world, a lively mix of tradition, history and modernity – an extraordinary venue filled with opportunities.

Theatre Baden-Baden

The Paris-born casino manager, Edouard Bènazet, did a lot to promote Baden-Baden and the arts. The Parisian architect, Charles Dérchy, built one of the most beautiful theatre buildings in Germany in 1859-1862, in the style of the Paris Opera. Completely renovated in 1992, the building in the Goetheplatz can now seat 500 visitors, and it boasts the latest technology. The theatre is managed by Director Nicola May, and it employs an 18-strong company of actors. Their repertoire includes modern versions of classics that remain faithful to the original text, modern works in German and English, and current works and premières. This historic backdrop offers the ensemble of actors three spaces to perform, including the large theatre hall. Events can also be hosted in the intimate mirrored foyer, which is a great space for theatre-goers during breaks, with its beautiful interior decoration, and is also excellent for hosting small, intimate pieces. The TIK, the stage for young theatre, can also be used. A visit to Baden-Baden Theatre will encourage you to free your imagination and get to know historical characters. It is always a moving experience. The programme includes works from the psychological realist tradition. There are also side events, theatre classes and special events like the Baden-Württemberg Theatre Days.

Caracalla Spa

The Romans discovered the healing properties of the twelve thermal springs and built the first thermal paths in Baden-Baden 2000 years ago. 800,000 litres of water a day spring up from a depth of 2,000 metres to the modern Caracalla Spa, offering visitors from around the world an exclusive spa experience. There are a range of pools at the Caracalla Spa, with temperatures between 18° C and 38° C, which are perfect for a nice long bathing session in the beneficial thermal waters. As well as the attractive bathing pools, there is much more for visitors to enjoy in the extensive indoor area, including a rock grotto with hot and cold water, a relaxing aromatic steam bath, and a salt water inhalation room. In the large outdoor area there are two marble pools, a current channel, two whirlpools and a large grass sunbathing area with sun loungers. The outdoor pools are a special highlight in winter.

Friedrichsbad Spa Baden-Baden

"After 10 minutes you forget time, after 20 minutes the world" Where exactly? By an unforgettable visit to the Friedrichsbad! Situated at the foot of the Altstadt, a combination of Roman and Irish bathing traditions have been enjoyed here for the past 140 years. And it’s not simply the baths that work wonders. Even the elaborate frescoes, that decorate the awe-inspiring central dome, provide a sensory treat for body and soul. Let yourself be spellbound by the charm of the Friedrichsbad and revel in an atmosphere that has, for so many visitors, been a magical source of inspiration. The view of the artistic frescos at the heart of the spa, on the round dome above the Roman/Irish baths, is a tonic for body and soul. When it was opened in 1877, this temple to well-being was among the most modern baths in Europe, and it is still as captivating as ever. Experience sheer bathing bliss in an invigorating 17 step ritual. The changing temperatures and varying baths, with their precious thermal waters, guarantee a feeling of total relaxation. Make sure you opt for the soap & brush massage. It’s well worth it! After, you’ll feel like a new pin! Even the famous American novelist, Mark Twain, described his experience here in a letter to a friend: “Here at the Friedrichsbad you lose track of time within 10 minutes and track of the world within 20....”
