More
A warm welcome. The Museum der Kulturen wants to foster cultural life in and around Basel, but also nationally and internationally, with attractive, exciting exhibitions and a wide variety of events. It raises cultural awareness by encouraging us to confront what is ‘foreign’, inviting us to reassess the familiar. The collections of the Museum der Kulturen go back to the mid-19th century. With the valuable pieces from Ancient America donated by the Basel businessman Lukas Vischer, the city at the knee of the Rhine came into possession of one of the first ethnological collections in Europe. It is is an exceptional venue for private guided tours or events, combined with a reception or a meal. A number of historic rooms such as the Baroque Room are available for rent for private occasions.
