Established by Rao Hamirji in 1510. The town is connected to Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi and other major cities of India by railway trains. It also offers a domestic airport from where daily flights operate to Mumbai. It is a famous destination hub for shopping of handicraft work; artists from nearby villages bring their art work for sale in the city bringing centuries of traditions together. Regenta Resort, Bhuj India is located at GMDC House, Bhuj-Mirjapar Highway, Bhuj. Bhuj has an average elevation of 110 metres (360 feet). On the eastern side of the town is a hill known as Bhujiyo Dungar, on which Bhujia Fort lies and separates Bhuj city and Madhapar town along with Lake Hamirsar. One can witness ecologically rich and wildlife conservation areas of the Kutch / Kachchh district like the Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary, Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary, Narayan Sarovar Sanctuary, Kutch Bustard Sanctuary, Banni Grasslands Reserve and the Chari-Dhand Wetland Conservation Reserve.
