If it's ritzy shopping and uptown luxury your groups are after (post-meeting, of course), Buckhead meeting venues will supply joyful proximity to both. North of Midtown and Downtown, Buckhead is nicknamed the "Beverly Hills of the East" because it has almost as many designer shops and 1950s mansions. Buckhead offers groups a chance to indulge, relax and be pampered at almost every turn in the road; meeting venues keep up with the decadence accordingly.
Buckhead, about 14 miles from the Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta airport, is a metro area located between Interstate 85 and Interstate 75 and served by MARTA. The main north/south street is Peachtree Road, which travels south into the heart of the city as Peachtree Street; the name change signifies the border between Buckhead and Midtown Atlanta.
Visitors head to Buckhead to shop at high-end venues Phipps Plaza and Lenox Square Mall, which together have more than 340 retail shops including Coach, Louis Vuitton, Kate Spade, Tiffany & Co., Jimmy Choo, Giorgio Armani, Fendi and Neiman Marcus. Both centers also double as event venues for up to 4,200. In line with the upscale shoppers are world-famed hotels, spas and restaurants to host them, including the 5 Diamond Ritz-Carlton and 4 Diamond 365-room Westin Buckhead (with 30,000 square feet of meeting space) and 371-room J.W. Marriott at Lenox (with 18,000 square feet of meeting space).
Event venues in Buckhead include the Atlanta History Center; with floor to ceiling windows, barreled ceiling and garden views, it entertains up to 1,500 in style. Groups may also gather at Chastain Horse Park Club House (200 for reception), the tranquil outdoor Duck Pond, Lowe Gallery at the TULA Art Center, and Peacock House, aka Southern Center for International Studies, a 1929 landmark site that hosts 250 for a reception. The Buckhead Theater, built in 1931 and recently reopened, is an event venue for up to 1,500.
Dining venues in Buckhead include many high-end restaurants, many with private space for groups, including La Grotta Ristorante Italiano, Aria, Bone's and Atlanta Fish Market.
Under construction is yet another shopping destination (to be helmed by a 5 Star St. Regis), with highbrow retailers Hermes and Van Cleef & Arpels rumored to be among the tenants.
