Planners looking to create a vibrant, culturally rich meeting mix will find no better ingredients than the meeting and event venues in the Chicago Loop. The financial and theater district of Chicago, the Loop is also known as the city's historic commercial district. It is lined with a number of the city's signature skyscrapers, and is home to luxury hotels like the Palmer House Hilton, Renaissance and Swissotel Chicago, to name a few.
Bounded on the west and north by the Chicago River, east by Lake Michigan and south by Roosevelt Road, Chicago Loop venues are easily reached and accessible via public transportation. The Loop is served by both Midway International and O'Hare International airports. Midway International Airport is one of the world's fastest-growing airports; O'Hare International serves an estimated 64 million passengers per year and is a major hub for both United and American Airlines.
A short taxi ride from Midway International or O'Hare International respectively is the Summit Executive Centre, an accredited member of the International Association of Conference Centers (IACC) and just one of many Chicago Loop meeting venues. The Centre offers 34,000 square feet of flexible meeting space accommodating 10 to 250 guests in a series of small to midsize meeting rooms.
Chicago Loop event venues include the spectacular Skydeck in the Willis Tower (the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere and third tallest in the world). Guests can take in breathtaking panoramic views on the 103rd floor and even step four feet outside of the building on the glass boxes known as The Ledge. The 99th floor Skydeck is available for private events for up to 400 guests, featuring stunning Chicago panoramic views as its backdrop.
Meeting groups can also enjoy numerous award-winning dining venues in the Chicago Loop, most of which have private meeting space. Dining and private meeting space venues include the award-winning Stetson's Chop House (located in the Hyatt Regency), as well as the new Asian Sunda, rustic Italian Trattoria No. 10, contemporary American eatery Tavern at the Park and Chicago landmark Nick's Fishmarket.
The district is also home to a number of cultural attractions that double as Chicago Loop event venues. Attendees can tour and rent private space at the world-renowned Art Institute of Chicago, opulent Lyric Opera of Chicago and landmark Chicago Cultural Center. Another Chicago Loop staple, the striking, world-famous Chicago Theatre, houses a 3,335-seat, seven-story-high auditorium, as well as a private 252-seat auditorium and five-story grand lobby (modeled after the Royal Chapel at Versailles), all of which can be rented as private event space.
