Once in Chicago Northwest - Woodfield, many groups meet in Schaumburg, which is home to excellent shopping, entertainment, and dining, as well as the expansive Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel and attached Schaumburg Convention Center. Located just 12 miles from O'Hare International Airport and 26 miles from downtown Chicago, the convention center features 148,624 square feet of total combined meeting space, including a 97,200-square-foot, column-free space. The convention center adjoins the 500-guest room Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel, which itself offers 48,000 square feet of meeting space and the on-site Sam & Harry's Steak House. Together, the convention center and hotel feature a total of 42 meeting rooms, as well as such amenities as a fitness center and indoor pool, audio-visual capabilities, and specialty lighting services.

Beyond the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel and Schaumburg Convention Center, Schaumburg is also home to a number of unique venues and event spaces perfect for group functions and meetings. For an exciting group event, bet on the Arlington Park Racecourse, a leader in thoroughbred racing since 1947. The park's racing season runs from May through September, during which 50,000 guests can watch the races from the grandstand, park, outdoor Terrace Cafe, box seats, or simulcast centers. Private event spaces at the park include the 200-person Governor’s Room, with a balcony on the finish line and multiple flat-screen televisions, as well as its own bar and menu, among other rentable spaces. Not far from the Arlington Park Racecourse, the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre is a $22-million live-entertainment and arts education facility located in downtown Arlington Heights. The center features a 350-seat theater, ballroom, four classrooms, and 13 music studios, making it not only a popular spot to take in a comedy, drama, musical, or concert, but also a fantastic private event venue.

Groups may also gather at the modern, expansive Sears Centre Arena, an 11,800-seat multi-purpose entertainment, cultural, and sports center in Hoffman Estates. In fact, Schaumburg is home to 66 shopping centers and hundreds of retail shops, including the largest IKEA store in North America, as well as a large selection of meeting and event spaces and the Renaissance Schaumburg and Convention Center.

Schaumburg is also home to a number of family- and group-friendly attractions, including the delightful LEGOLAND Discovery Center. Adults and kids alike flock to this special place, which houses more than two million play-friendly LEGO bricks and such exhibits as the Build and Test Zone, where visitors can build and test LEGO racing cars on a speed test track, as well as the Hall of Fame, which displays life-sized LEGO models of such characters as Harry Potter, Batman, and Indiana Jones. For a modern twist on a classic, head to the Wood Dale location of the Topgolf national chain, a premier golf entertainment complex that enables guests to take part in a fun point-scoring golf experience.
