Daly City, CA Meeting Planning Overview

Bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the west and stretching eastward nearly to San Francisco Bay, Daly City sits adjacent to San Francisco and is known as the "Gateway to the Peninsula." A central location and excellent transportation options have turned Daly City into a hub for retail, healthcare and small business, and the quality of the meeting venues in Daly City reflects the city's promise and prime location.

San Francisco International Airport, just nine miles southeast, services Daly City, as does Oakland International Airport, located 26 miles east. Major thoroughfares are U.S. Highway 101 and Interstate 280, which connects Daly to San Francisco (8 miles north), San Mateo and Santa Clara. The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system has two stations here, making transportation to downtown San Francisco or SFO airport easy. Average cab fare from SFO airport to downtown Daly City is around $35.

Among event venues in Daly City, the largest is Cow Palace Arena, one of the most versatile venues in the San Francisco area. The 30,000-square-foot arena can seat up to 16,500 and annually plays host to major touring events, conferences and, of course, the Grand National Rodeo, Horse and Stock Show. The North and South Halls are 48,000-square-foot spaces each, and the Exhibit Buildings are comprised of six 20,000-square-foot bays.

In Daly City, hotels with meeting space include the 86-room Hampton Inn San Francisco-Daly City, with 1482 square feet of space divided by two rooms. In nearby South San Francisco, the 312-room Embassy Suites San Francisco Airport has over 10,000 square feet of meeting space, and the 169-room Hilton Garden Inn San Francisco Airport North has 1,400 square feet of meeting space, as well as an outdoor patio.

Special event venues in the Daly City area include Mission Blue Center in nearby Brisbane, CA, which features stunning views of the San Bruno Mountains and the San Francisco Bay. Its meeting space totals 3,176 square feet. Lake Merced Golf Club can seat up to 260 in its clubhouse, and the Donworth Event Center offers 20,000 square feet of space.

Restaurants such as Moonstar Buffet, an upscale seafood restaurant with space for 500, provide optional Daly City event venues. Family-owned since 1956, Joe's of Westlake serves up homemade Italian-American cuisine for groups of up to 60. For a more casual occasion, Val's Restaurant and Lounge has a private room that seats 75 people.
