Dupont Circle, DC Meeting Planning Overview
Washington, DC's Dupont Circle is a well established neighborhood, part of the old city that was designed by Pierre Charles L'Enfant. It boasts beautiful Victorian architecture, numerous street cafes and ample shopping. A traffic rotary with a lush park that sits on top of the Dupont Circle station on the Red Line of the Metro rail system, Dupont Circle is bounded by five major streets: New Hampshire Avenue, Connecticut Avenue, Massachusetts Avenue, P street and 19th street. This proximity makes Dupont Circle meeting venues extremely accessible; in addition, the convention center is less than a mile away via Massachusetts Avenue.
Dupont Circle is served by Ronald Reagan National Airport, Dulles International Airport and Baltimore/Washington International Airport. Ground and public transportation, and most hotels, offer shuttle services.
Among the most desirable Dupont Circle venues is the Renaissance Mayflower hotel, with its elegant promenade and historic ambience. Other hotels with meeting space include the Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, Fairmont, Hilton, Westin and the Palomar.
Historic meeting venues in Dupont Circle includes the Washington Club, which sits right at the edge of the circle, and can provide planners with a Colonial setting for a standing reception for 400 people or a seated function for 200. Nearly every embassy is located on Massachusetts Avenue within walking distance to the circle and the sights and monuments of the city are only a quick metro or cab ride away.
Dining venues in Dupont Circle are many and varied, such as Restaurant Nora, one of the first certified organic restaurant in the country; and the recently opened Ping Pong Dim Sum, which has private event space. Washington meeting mainstays, such as Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and The Palm are also nearby.
