...Visitors to Fort Lauderdale will not want to miss this South Florida gem. Situated between the beach and Intracoastal waterway, Bonnet House Museum and Gardens features the historic home, gardens and art studios of American artists Frederic and Evelyn Bartlett. Highlights include original paintings, murals on the ceiling, faux marble walls and floors, a collection of antique china, and 35 acres of pristine barrier island ecosystem inhabited by wildlife such as monkeys, swans, wading birds, foxes and manatees. Bonnet House Museum and Gardens offers a number of lovely, serene spaces for private events, including the Island Theater for small groups and the Veranda and Courtyard for larger groups.
The museum and gardens are open for public tours Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM and Sunday from 12 to 4 PM. Admission is $16 for children ages 6-12, $20 for adults and $18 for seniors ages 60 and older.

The largest butterfly aviary in the world, Butterfly World features up to 50 different species of butterflies on any given day. Kids and parents alike will enjoy witnessing the miracle of metamorphosis at the lab encounter, getting lost in the garden maze, traversing the suspension bridge, and getting up close and personal with some intriguing insects at the new Bug Zoo. Additionally, Butterfly World features botanical gardens, exotic birds, fish ponds, waterfalls and an aromatic English Rose garden. After a day of discovery, guests can enjoy refreshments at the scenic Lakeside Café.
Butterfly World is open Monday through Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM and Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM. Admission is $16.95 for children ages 3-11 and $21.95 for adults.

Its collection is comprised of more than 6,000 works by artists spanning the globe with a strong emphasis placed on the creative expression of South Florida and Caribbean cultures. Highlights of the permanent collection include significant works by the artists of the Northern European CoBrA avant-garde movement; ceramics by Pablo Picasso; a comprehensive collection of the works of American impressionist William Glackens; and a collection of contemporary Cuban art contributed by more than 125 artists. In recent years, the museum has become well-known for hosting such large-scale exhibitions as Diana: A Celebration and Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs. The Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale is open Wednesday through Monday from 11 AM to 7 PM. It is closed Tuesday. Admission is $7 for children ages 6-17, $10 for adults and $7 for seniors and military.
