Fremont Street, about 20 minutes away from the McCarran International Airport, is an iconic part of Las Vegas and home to several distinctive meeting venues. Located at the north end of the Las Vegas Strip in downtown Las Vegas, this pedestrian street filled with neon is where all the glitz and glamor began back in 1905. The central feature of the Fremont Street is The Fremont Experience, a canopy of over 2 million lights that towers some 90 feet above the street and spans four blocks. Every half hour after the sun goes down and until midnight, the casinos on the streets dim their lights to let this free show of lights and music take over the spectators' senses. With several themes from Elvis to Thunderbirds, it leaves even the street vendors and show girls in front of the casinos in awe every time.
Fremont Street is the place to try the famous $1 shrimp cocktail at the 100-year-old Golden Gate Casino, and to check out the railroad station that was instrumental to the success of the city in its early days. The area has also recently undergone a $6-million renovation of its walkways, landscaping, lighted gateways, and retro neon signs, and many properties here chosen to follow suit with serious makeovers. Among the top Fremont Street meeting venues is the Golden Nugget, which offers over 37,000 square feet of meeting space; and The Grand, a new 11,000-square-foot events center with flexible event space. The Plaza offers 20,000 square feet of convention and banquet space and a Plaza Showroom that can accommodate up to 500. The Fitzgeralds is perfect for smaller gatherings ready to dance the night away, with up to 8,000 square feet of space.
Groups will love the vintage Vegas dining venues in Fremont Street, with red leather couches and roses for the ladies. Even locals love Hugo's Cellar, Lombardi's Italian Kitchen and Redwood Bar and Grill.
Some of the Las Vegas newest meeting venues are just steps away from Fremont Street.
