The school hosts several strands of public lectures, research seminars and colloquia, featuring national and international guest speakers along with staff and postgraduate students. The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) is Scotland's premier national venue for public events, concerts and conferences. The SECC is situated ajacent to the river Clyde together with The Clyde Auditorium (The Armadillo). These popular venues are a 10 minute drive from the hotel.

The Riverside Museum provides an exciting new home for Glasgow's transport collection and replaces the Museum of Transport previousy located at the Kelvin Hall.
