Golden Gate Park, CA Meeting Planning Overview

San Francisco's Golden Gate Park is the ultimate city haven and a fantastic location for San Francisco meetings and events. Welcoming more than 13 million visitors each year, the sprawling rectangular park spans more than three miles, is more than a half-mile wide and is home to several modern facilities that serve as Golden Gate Park event venues.

Golden Gate Park is located just 11 miles from San Francisco International Airport and 15 miles away from Oakland International Airport. Both airports offer direct access to Bay Area Rapid Transit; public transit connections such as Muni bus #5 or the Muni Metro "N" line link from San Francisco's downtown to the park.

Golden Gate Park is also less than five miles west of San Francisco's famed Moscone Center. Made up of three buildings, the Moscone Center covers more than 20 acres on three adjacent blocks in the heart of San Francisco. The Moscone Center offers more than 700,000 square feet of exhibit space, up to 106 meeting rooms, nearly 123,000 square feet of pre-function space, up to 256,225 square feet of meeting space and six primary exhibit halls. Moscone Center features in-house audio-visual, security and catering services, as well as sustainable practices.

Golden Gate Park meeting venues include the sprawling 412,000-square-foot California Academy of Sciences, which features a solar canopy, 2.5-acre living roof and 12 private event settings for up to 3,000 guests. A second Golden Gate Park event venue, the park's Conservatory of Flowers, showcases rare tropical plants and flowers found worldwide, as well as meeting space for up to 600 guests. Each of the conservatory's five galleries focuses on a tropical niche, home to such stunners as a century-old Giant Philodendron and water lilies measuring up to six feet in diameter.

Additional Golden Gate Park venues include the famed 293,000-square-foot de Young Museum, which is known for its exceptional fine arts collection and can accommodate up to 2,500 guests for private events; and the San Francisco Botanical Garden, home to 8,000 types of plants spread throughout its 55 acres of landscaped gardens and open spaces. (Feature gardens include a rock garden, moon-viewing garden, succulent garden and fragrance garden, with cultural gardens focusing on such regions as Southeast Asia, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and South America.)

The County Fair Building, also known as the Hall of Flowers, offers a budget-friendly venue option for planners in need of a large, flexible space that can accommodate up to 2,000 people. Throughout the year, the facility hosts a variety of events and festivals, including cultural events and group gatherings across its 30,000 square feet of space. Choose from indoor spaces like the Auditorium (4,200 square feet) or Gallery (8,636 square feet), or plan an outdoor function in the Gallery Courtyard (approximately 6,000 square feet).

Dining venues in Golden Gate Park with private dining space include The Moss Room, located at the California Academy of Sciences. The Beach Chalet Brewery & Restaurant, located above the Golden Gate Park Visitors Center, features delicious American fare, live music, hand-crafted ales, and panoramic ocean views. The Park Chalet Garden Restaurant sits just steps away from the park's Dutch tulip garden.
