According to some etymologists the name Guanajuato comes from the Tarasco Quanashuato QUANAS compound of words meaning frogs and HUUATO, somewhat hilly. But adding the TO particle, where abounds anything. Therefore Quanashuato expressed "hilly place of frogs" or "Where frogs abound." Quanashuato over time becomes Quanaxhuato finally Guanajuato as known today. The state offers many reasons for tourist to come and stay.
