Part of the Early Works Museum Complex, this re-created 19th century village features guides dressed in period garb who demonstrate what life was like nearly two centuries ago. Guests can also see the cabinet shop where 44 delegates assembled to forge the way for Alabama's statehood on July 5, 1819. The village is also home to an old-fashioned law office, post office, print shop and sheriff's residence.
The Early Works Museum Complex has several spaces available for private events. Groups can gather in elegance at the Grand Hall, which features seating for up to 200 people, or enjoy the charming 7,500-square-foot Roundhouse, which can accommodate up to 1,000 people. From March to October, the Alabama Constitution Village is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM. Admission is $8 for children, $10 for adults and $8 for seniors. Discounted rates are available for groups of 15 or more people.

...Known as "a Jewel on a Mountain," Burritt on the Mountain is a one-of-a-kind regional history museum set on 167 acres overlooking the city. The former mountaintop estate of Dr. William Henry Burritt, this 14-room mansion houses original furnishings, personal artifacts and exhibits that examine the region's history. Outside, visitors can explore re-created log structures designed to reflect life in the 19th century while park guides dressed in period garb interpret regional history. Guests can also stop by the Burritt Barnyard to meet some of its beloved animal residents or take a scenic hike through the mountain's winding nature trails.
From April to October, Burritt on the Mountain is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM and Sunday from noon to 5 PM. From November to March, it is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM and Sunday from noon to 4 PM. Admission is $4 for children ages 3-12, $5 for students ages 13-17, $7 for adults and $6 for seniors ages 60 and older.

Located in the Early Works Museum Complex, the children's museum is ripe with activities to engage and entice curious minds. Wandering wide-eyed through the exciting exhibits, kids can hear stories from a giant talking tree, play larger-than-life instruments, board a 46-foot keelboat or try on 1800s-style clothing. Smaller children can enjoy the fun at Biscuit's Backyard, an interactive playground designed for preschoolers.
The Early Works Museum Complex has several spaces available for private events. The Grand Hall features seating for up to 200 people, while the stately 1848 Humphrey-Rodgers House makes an elegant event backdrop with 11-foot-high ceilings and a grand staircase.

The unique experience takes visitors on a drive down the two-mile gravel path amongst buffalo, antelope, crocodile, zebras and more. It is not unusual for visitors to be greeted at their car window by a friendly zebra or be stopped by a bison crossing their path. To heighten the experience, guests can get buckets of corn to toss out to the animals along the way.
