NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK in the southwest of Rwanda, Nyungwe forest national park is a vast untouched tropical rainforest with a high, dense canopy. Nyungwe is certainly worthy of its status because of its spectacular biodiversity. The heart of Nyungwe forest is like a scene of a fairy tale. Home to habituated chimpanzees and 12 other primates’ species (including a 400-strong troop of habituated Rwenzori Black & White Colobus), it’s also a birder’s paradise with over 300 species, including 16 endemics, and is home to 75 different species of mammal. This majestic rainforest is filled with nature and wildlife experiences for you to emerge yourself in. Hiking or even biking the beautiful terrain, tracking the famous chimpanzees, experiencing the canopy walk, witnessing beautiful birds, relaxing by waterfalls are just a glimpse of activities that Nyungwe offers. Sounds and views collaborate to create a one-of-a-kind wildlife experience. Exploring through the forest, travellers will witness the lush green mountains and cooling mist in a landscape that won’t be soon forgotten. To get a real sense of the scale of Nyungwe, try East Africa’s highest canopy with a metal bridge suspended 50 metres above the forest. It’s not for the vertiginous but the views of Nyungwe sprawled out below are unforgettable.

KIGALI GENOCIDE MEMORIAL CENTRE

KIGALI GENOCIDE MEMORIAL CENTRE is a place for remembrance and learning. It is the final resting place for more than 250000 victims of the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. It honours the memory of the more than one million Rwandans killed in 1994 through education and peace-building. It is located in Gisozi; ten minutes’ drive from the centre of town. Being the burial place, the memorial was also founded to inform about the genocide, documement the reports of its witnesses and support the survivors.

AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK

AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK is a stunning national park where the past has been revived. It is located in the north east of Rwanda along the border with Tanzania. It has exceptional levels of biodiversity and forms the largest protected wetland in central Africa. Akagera offers a great safari element as it is home to many large plains game species. Due to its wide variety of habitats, Akagera is an important ornithological site with nearly 500 bird species.

KING’S PALACE MUSEUM based in Nyanza, 88 km south of Kigali City, this was the residence of King Mutara III Rudahigwa and the Royal Palace that was traditionally built. This Palace offers a detailed look into Rwandan traditional seat of their monarchy, it is an impressive museum, restored to its 19th century state and made entirely with traditional materials. Recently the Long Horned Traditional cows, known in Kinyarwanda as "Inyambo" were also introduced because of the fact that cows form an integral part of Rwandan Culture.
