The municipality of Yaiza, located in the south of Lanzarote, is one of the most extensive on the island, with 27,195 hectares and the most attractive tourist and natural sites offers visitors. It was the first place of conquest and the first European enclave in the Canaries, known by the name of Rubicon that, by pontifical disposition, its modest chapel of San Marcial happened to become cathedral, erecting itself thus the first diocese of the Archipelago, in 1404. Yaiza Has a population of fourteen thousand five hundred and forty inhabitants, being the main nucleus Playa Blanca, with a population of eleven thousand sixty-eight registered. The main natural attraction of the municipality is undoubtedly the Timanfaya National Park, unique place in the world and one of the most relevant expressions of the recent volcanism of the archipelago.
