As the county seat of Allen County, Ohio, Lima is home to just over 38,700 people. With nearly 1,500 hotel rooms, ample convention space and many Lima event venues, it's also an ideal location for multi-day conferences and conventions in the heart of the Midwest.
Lima is approximately 90 minutes from the airports of Dayton, Fort Wayne and Toledo. Since it is also fewer than three hours from Columbus, Detroit and Cleveland, the city is an easily accessible destination for day-long meetings.
Chief among convention venues in Lima is the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center. Located in downtown Lima, the self-described "living room of Allen County," has welcomed 3.5 million visitors and more than 12,000 events since its opening in 1984 and is the hub of community life. The center's facilities include a 14,500-square-foot exhibit hall, divisible into three sections, and 10 meeting rooms. The center is connected to the 100-room Wingate by Wyndham, which has two additional meeting rooms.
Located within a few blocks of and operated by the convention center are several additional Lima event venues. The Crouse Performance Hall is a 1,774-seat proscenium theater with a wide stage, multiple dressing rooms and fully computerized box office services. One block south of the convention center is the Allen County Memorial Hall. Built in 1908 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the hall's Beaux Arts lobby and elegant theater can accommodate up to 1,000 people. Finally, the new City Club space is a fully renovated 1885 building, whose stained-glass windows and warm ambiance make it an excellent venue for dinners, receptions and galas of up to 180 guests.
Several hotel venues in Lima also offer great options for comfortable accommodations and top-notch meeting space. The Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Lima has 2,100 square feet of meeting space complete with audio-visual equipment. Having recently undergone a $1.1-million remodel, the Howard Johnson Lima has 150 rooms and 4,500 square feet of event space spread across seven rooms. Lima Comfort Inn, Courtyard by Marriott and Hampton Inn also have event space.
After a long day in the boardroom, guests may just want to relax with some food and drink. Luckily, Lima has several restaurants that serve up delicious food – along with private dining space. Voted best Mexican restaurant in Lima for six years in a row, La Charreada has banquet space for up to 50 people. The award-winning pasta, steaks and seafood at Casa Lu Al's Restaurant can be enjoyed in its 45-person banquet room.
