Welcome to Cvent's MICE Guide to Lloydminster, a city guide for MICE professionals. A mid-size city with the conveniences of a major urban centre and a small-town friendly atmosphere, Lloydminster is a vibrant, growing destination well positioned for meetings and events. As Canada's only border city, Lloydminster is separated by the Alberta-Saskatchewan border running through the centre of the city, but still considered one city. This Central Parkland Region destination features beautiful aspen woodlands, fescue grasslands and wetlands throughout its gently rolling landscape, as well as a strong economy built on petroleum and agriculture.
Conveniently located along Yellowhead Highway #16, Lloydminster sits 250 kilometers outside of Edmonton and 275 kilometers from Saskatoon. Visitors to Lloydminster can fly into the Lloydminster Airport, which is located at the northwest corner of the city. The airport provides charter services and regularly scheduled flights to Calgary International Airport via Central Mountain Air. Lloydminster is also home to a Greyhound station, which is open daily.
Lloydminster is a fantastic destination for agricultural events, meetings and other group gatherings, thanks to such event spaces as its sprawling Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds. Offering 100,00 square feet of indoor event space, the 73-acre Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds features a camping area with electrical sites, ample parking, a 5/8-mile racetrack and a 3,500-person grandstand. Event spaces include the full-service 13,100-square-foot Stockade Convention Centre; 20,000-square-foot Alberta Building; and 45,000-square-foot Saskatchewan Building, among other spaces. Meeting services include in-house catering and an event planning staff.
In addition to its Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds, Lloydminster is home to a number of unique venues perfectly positioned for event rentals. The 550-seat Vic Juba Community Theatre at Lakeland College showcases full-scale theatrical productions and concerts, as well as accommodates conventions and corporate functions. A community gathering place focused on art, music and local cuisine, The Root: Community Emporium welcomes private events, while groups can tour the facilities at The Cheesiry, an Old World-inspired artisan cheese shop focused on preparing nourishing food in the most wholesome way possible.
Between fishing for trout, exploring walking paths and throwing horseshoes, among other activities, groups can hold outdoor events at the 200-acre Bud Miller All Seasons Park, which features a 300-person outdoor amphitheatre and picnic shelter, as well as a three-floor Park Centre Building. The 18-hole Rolling Green Golf Course welcomes private group tournaments and events at its 350-person event centre pavilion and 150-person banquet hall with a wraparound deck overlooking the course. Other sports and event facilities include the Lloydminster Golf and Curling Centre, which features golf tournament options, a meeting room, 275-person restaurant overlooking the golf course and dry ice event surfaces, as well as the Servus Sports Centre, a versatile athletic centre home to two dry ice surfaces, a field house and 100-person meeting room all available for private bookings.
