Here, groups can earn bragging rights to quintessential Big Apple experiences like dining at '21' Club or Le Bernardin, catching a Broadway show or a concert at Carnegie Hall, window-shopping at Tiffany's or just standing in Times Square.
Midtown Manhattan is easily accessible. Getting to and from Midtown New York takes approximately 45 minutes via taxi or car from the New York metropolitan area's three major airports—LaGuardia Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport. Once in Midtown, visitors can hail a cab, jump on the subway or catch a bus.
Chief among large venues in Midtown are the 675,000-square-foot Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and the 133,000-square-foot Piers 92/94 are both located on the West Side along the Hudson River, as is the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, a unique Manhattan events venue that offers views of the New York City skyline from the Flight Deck. On the East Side, the United Nations doubles as an event venue, as does Grand Central Station. Bryant Park turns into a winter wonderland with an ice skating rink and temporary restaurant called Celsius that is one of the many Midtown event venues that groups can enjoy through the end of February. (The rest of the year, choose the Upper Terrace, the Lawn, the Fountain Terrace, the Library Terrace and Le Carrousel.) Other Midtown venues include the International Center for Photography, Museum of Arts and Design, Museum of Modern Art. Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall also available for everything from intimate gatherings to groups in the thousands.
Midtown hotel venues are legendary, beginning with the Waldorf=Astoria, the St. Regis and the New York Palace (formerly The Helmsley Palace), although many meeting groups convene at the Hilton New York and the Marriott Marquis, which have the most meeting space (151,000 square feet and 101,450 square feet, respectively).
Dining in Midtown Manhattan is an experience in and of itself and its restaurants feature cuisine from around the globe. There is famed the Le Bernardin, Jean Georges Restaurant, 21 Club, Per Se Restaurant, the Four Seasons Restaurant, Bryant Park Grill, Gallagher's Steak House, Gordon Ramsay at The London and Sardi's.
No Midtown Manhattan program would be complete without taking in a Broadway or off-Broadway show, a quintessential New York experience. Tours of the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, and the United Nations are also fun group activities, but be sure to allow attendees plenty of time to explore on their own.
