Munich (München in German) – the capital and largest city of the German region of Bavaria – is a city that has retained its medieval layout despite being a hub for finance and publishing industries. Visitors can reach the city via the Munich airport, which is served by more than 80 carriers. The wide array of Munich hotels and venues cater to events of varying types and sizes, and Munich restaurants such as Augustiner-Keller, Tantris, and Marktwirt cater to large groups, helping make the city a great MICE destination.
Hotel venues include the 627-room Westin Grand Munich, which has 21 meeting rooms and space for events of up to 1,050 persons; the 480-room Hilton Munich City, which has event space for up to 300 attendees; the 348-room Munich Marriott, which has 13 meeting rooms, including a ballroom, for 520 persons; the 347-room Maritim Hotel Munich, which has room for events of up to 550 persons; and the 297-room Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munich, which has space for up to 600 persons.
Like Munich hotels, the Old Town and New Town halls in the city’s central square also tick all the boxes for event planners. Ratstrinkstube in the Old Town hall, with its rose- and white-colored arches, is a great venue for hosting events. The New Town hall has the Rathaus Galerie Kunsthalle, which is a 245-square-foot exhibition space. Other event venues in Munich large enough to host high-profile events include the Gasteig München alongside the River Isar, which contains a concert space for up to 2,400 persons and the Black Box Theater for up to 250 persons; the MOC Ordercenter München, which has 300,000 square feet of event space and six conference rooms; and the Konferenzzentrum München conference center, which has space for up to 450 persons.
