Additional Information

The Down Town Association's members have included Franklin D. Roosevelt, a member from 1913 until his death in 1945, Grover Cleveland, four Secretaries of State, including John Foster Dulles, five attorney General, one secretary of Defense and two secretaries of War. The Club has no political orientation, illustrated by the fact that two of the three men who ran against Rossevelt for the Presidency of the United States were also members of the Association. Our Membership of 560 men and women is drawn from a diverse group of professionals. Prospective members must be proposed and seconded by members of the Club, meet with and be approved by our Membership Commitee and meet with and be approved by the Trustees before admission.
