Things to do

NIAGARA ACTIVITIES Niagara-on-the-Lake is an escape that many visitors return to year after year. It’s no wonder that the beguiling Niagara region is Canada’s top tourist draw. There’s always something new to discover, from an exciting opening night at the theatre to a winery dinner to endless backroads for cycling and trails for hiking. There are over two dozen wineries in Canada’s grape growing capital – more than enough to happily occupy even the most dedicated amateur sommelier. Here, when you visit a winery, it’s not just about the flavour, taste, and smell. The wineries themselves are found on prime acreages, are designed by some of North America’s most famed architects, and create an ambiance to match the quality of their product. The local wines, together with an abundance of fresh local ingredients means that Niagara-on-the-Lake attracts culinary talent galore. Savour the best at winery restaurants located in beautiful surroundings throughout the region. Niagara Falls, Fort George, and the Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club. These are just a few of the household names in Niagara-on-the-Lake and Niagara region waiting to be explored by horse carriage, helicopter, bike, or car. Whether you fancy a stroll along the waterfront trail connecting Niagara-on-the-Lake with the Falls or a leisurely cruise down the Niagara Parkway (the “prettiest Sunday afternoon drive in North America”), there’s a region of fun at your fingertips.

More

Experience stately Georgian-style elegance and gracious service in a spectacular waterfront setting. Queen's Landing is a first class corporate hotel that caters to meetings, conferences and events boasting 140 guestrooms, updated in contemporary boutique chic style, plus spacious meeting facilities for conferences and events. Tiara Restaurant, along with Bacchus Lounge and outdoor patio, provide exquisite Niagara cuisine with a panoramic view of the Niagara River. Queen's Landing is an elegant hotel designed for versatility for all events. A variety of 19 rooms allows for configurations that can accommodate everything from a presentation for 420, to banquets, seminars and board meetings of virtually any kind. Natural light pours in the floor-to-ceiling windows. The sweeping staircase invites an entrance worthy of Scarlet O'Hara. Marble floors and a stained-glass ceiling define Queen's Landing as a mansion with style. On the property of the Old Niagara Harbour and Dock Company incorporated in 1831, Queen's Landing was built in 1990. Its architecture reflects the Georgian Era, a style born during the reigns of the British monarchs George I to George IV, a time in which Upper Canada began to flourish with the Loyalists' retreat from the New American colonies. The exterior of the building fashions Venetian windows, heavy pediments with mouldings and large columns, while its interior is adorned with marble flooring, a sweeping staircase, murals and brilliant stained glass ceilings. When Vintage Hotels purchased the hotel and the Dockmaster's House in 1996, both were entirely refurbished. The Dockmaster, which serves as one of Niagara-on-the-Lake's historic landmarks, has been fully restored under the expert direction of the local Conservancy Committee and offers guest suite accommodations.
