North Point, China Meeting Planning Overview
In Hong Kong Island’s Eastern District is North Point. It’s an older residential area with a Shanghainese heritage, as many of its residents came from mainland China during the Chinese Civil War. North Point event venues feature great restaurants.
Taxis offer a fast and flexible way to and from Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). Arriving passengers can pick up a taxi at the Taxi Station, which can be reached by the left-hand ramp outside the Arrivals Hall. North Point is served by the Island Line and the Tseung Kwan O Line of the Mass Transit Rapid railway. North Point is also served by Hong Kong Tramways, of which it is one of the seven terminal points. Ferries connect North Point Ferry Pier to various places in Hong Kong, including Hung Hom and Kowloon City. During the annual Tin Hau Festival, special ferries operate from North Point Ferry Pier to Joss House Bay.
There are no stand-alone meeting venues in North Point but, this being the economical part of town, the hotel venues in North Point are quite reasonable. The 669-room Harbour Plaza North Point has 12 rooms for meetings and conferences. Located on the edge of the bustling Causeway Bay shopping and business district is the 613-room City Garden Hotel, which has the Michelin One Star Cantonese restaurant YUE. Meeting packages are provided on a regular basis.
Hong Kong’s multitudes of wet markets are windows into a vivid and timeless world of food shopping. Of all the wet markets in the city, Chun Yeung Market is worth visiting on a half-day tour. Here, a narrow street is lined on either side with noisy stalls selling fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, and seafood. This is an experience of sights and sounds that evoke the market business as it was a century ago.
