The port city of Georgetown, circa 1750, is South Carolina's 3rd oldest port and stands at the confluence of the rivers that have shaped its history. Here, time stands still in the old ballast bricks and clapboards of its handsome homes, churches and public buildings. You're welcome to tour such historic sites as the Kaminski House, the Rice Museum, and several historic churches or stroll down the Harbor walk on your own. Or you may choose to take one of our organized historical walking, tram or boat tours.
Georgetown County is a year-round retreat, wherein you can create family traditions. Area festivals, attractions, shops and much, much more are available throughout the year. A short drive to the north, Myrtle Beach offers shopping, theatres, and amusement parks; and to the south is the lovely, historic city of Charleston where history is not simply a thing of the past. You can tour 300 year old homes, walk along the Battery and see where the Civil War began.
