Journey to the Edge of the World

Historical landmark
90 minutes away
The Edge of the World (whose real name is Jebel Fihrayn) has become within a few years one of the most popular destinations around Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This “nickname” was given because of its main attraction that are the stunning viewpoints from the top of the 300-meter-high cliffs overlooking the surrounding plain. This escarpment is part of the much longer Jibal Tuwaiq which is one of the most prominent natural features of Saudi Arabia as it spreads over 1 000 kilometers from the province of Najran on the south up to Qassim in the north. It even played an important role in Arabia’s History as along its foot was one of the ancient caravan trade routes that used to cross the Arabian Peninsula from Yemen into the Levant and Persia. Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh organises a customized trip from the hotel, including transportation by hotel’s fleet of Cadillac Escalade, an Arabic tent with Bedouin seating, live BBQ, entertainment, microlight flight over the landscape. The drive to this site takes 1 hour 30 minutes from the hotel.

Heet Cave

Historical landmark
45 minutes away
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to swim, snorkel or even scuba dive in the middle of the desert? Well, one way to find out is to visit Heet Cave, known for its crystal-clear waters. It’s the perfect place to explore if you love adventure, a bit of a challenge and off-the-beaten track trips. Additionally, as it’s on the outskirts of Riyadh, it is one of Saudi Arabia’s most easily accessible wild caves. Like most cave systems, Heet Cave, or Dahl Heet, was formed in limestone by dissolving the anhydrite minerals inside. Rumours are that this is the area where oil explorers found the first surface outcrop of anhydrite minerals in Saudi Arabia.
