Located in the heart of beautiful downtown Roanoke, our award-winning conference center, exceptional service and outstanding amenities offer the optimum venue for your next conference or meeting. Part of a chain of rooms along with Brush and Bent, Tinker Mountain is great for breakouts, featuring large windows (that can be darkened) that overlook downtown Roanoke. The two side walls have tackable surfaces that are equipped with conference tables and chairs. There are screens that automatically drop down at the head of the room with florescent lights overhead that are on a dimmer system. With ample wall outlets, there are two jacks in each room with each having telephone and data capabilities. Data hook-ups for each room total eight and there is capacity for 16 telephone lines. Tinker Mountain is also wired for local television, in-house hotel channels or the conference center channel. Description

Located in the heart of beautiful downtown Roanoke, our award-winning conference center, exceptional service and outstanding amenities offer the optimum venue for your next conference or meeting. Harrison/Tyler is wired for local television, in-house hotel channels or the conference center channel. Any of the outlets can be used to send video programming for recording or retransmitting to other rooms or outside site. Background music is available with local volume control and two of the four walls have tackable surfaces. Each has an automatic drop-down screen at the front of the room, but Taylor B does not have a screen. Each section has one voice/data connection which will give each eight telephone lines and four data connections. When Taylor is fully opened, there would be two outlets. Florescent lighting is offered on a dimmer system in Taylor and Harrison. Tyler is not on a dimmer system but has two wall was incandescent for accent lighting. The Jefferson Boardroom is one of two boardrooms in the facility, offering an elegant and upgraded finish with two windows featuring a permanent board table and upgraded ergonomically designed board chairs. There is an automatic drop-down screen an on the west wall, built-in cabinets for planned video conference equipment. The boardroom also features a privacy phone room outside the main boardroom area. The lighting offers incandescent cans but there are no dimmer capabilities. Two wall washes provide accent lighting to the room. The room is wired for local television, in-house hotel channels or the conference center channel. Any of the outlets can be used to send video programming for recording or retransmitting to other rooms or outside site. A unique feature of the room is the teleconferencing capabilities. Videoconferencing using VTEL digital CODEC and dial-up digital telephone connections. Compatible with Virginia Tech vdeo conference facilities and others using various data rates from 112kbs (dual switched 56 circuits) to 384 kbs (ISDN BRI x3). System includes dual large-screen monitors, participant camera, document camera, and supports computer conferencing using a built-in 486 PC. An audio conference using conventional phone lines can be added on to a video conference or initiated independently. A computer-controlled touch screen provides system control functions; controls are presented in a menu format in a user-friendly fashion. The CODEC can be used to support video conferences in other rooms through the central control room and the in-house video distribution system. Background music is available with local volume control and two of the four walls have tackable surfaces. Each has an automatic drop-down screen at the front of the room, but Taylor B does not have a screen. Each section has one voice/data connection which will give each eight telephone lines and four data connections. When Taylor is fully opened, there would be two outlets. Florescent lighting is offered on a dimmer system in Taylor and Harrison. Tyler is not on a dimmer system but has two wall was incandescent for accent lighting. Two wireless microphone systems for presenters or audience questions Control of audiovisual system functions using a computer-controlled touch screen at lectern. Controls are presented in a menu format in a user-friendly fashion. Speakers Holding Room: Located just off stage, this room can be used by a speaker for final preparation. Incandescent lights and wall washes are available on a dimmer system. There is additional track light system above the state that also dims. Lighting, sound, screen, etc can all be controlled via the speaker's podium. The room offers two side wall that are covered with a tackable surface and the wall opposite the entry features a 10'X8'6 automatic drop-down screen. Sound is available through ceiling loudspeakers offering background music, speech reinforcement and audiovisual sound playback. Microphone receptacles are located in wall boxes and audio recording is available using centrally located recorder or portable recorder connected to output jack in the room.
