It is part of the historical-artistic Sanlúcar de Barrameda, 1973 declared as such. The palace was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1978, along with the caves. Today it houses the Casa Medina Sidonia Foundation. In its design and construction involved, among others, Alonso de Vandelvira, Juan de Oviedo and Domenico Fontana, whose designs are interspersed with Moorish lines of the old building. The garden, surrounded by medieval walls, was designed by Giovanni Pannini, a landscape that combined Italian fountains and statues with box hedges. In addition to the garden is a grove of 5000 square meters. In its more than 4500 square meters built is an important collection of works of art owned by the ducal house. Among them are paintings of the Spanish school of the XVII (Pantoja de la Cruz, Murillo, Zurbarán, Juan de Roelas ...), works of Goya, an important collection of Flemish tapestries and furnishings of numerous sixteenth to the twentieth centuries. Special mention should file the House, which by its size and the age and interest of your documents is considered one of the largest private archives in Europe. Currently, there is an inn and a café part of the palace. Part of the gardens is open to the general public visit with free admission.
