SEVILLE SUGGESTED SPARE TIME ACTIVITIES

Recreation
• Walking around the shopping centre of the town. The district that surrounds the pedestrian’s street called Sierpes and Tetuan, is the place to visit for the best of Seville’s old and new shops. • Flamenco is a purely Andalusian type of folk singing whose origins stretch back through the whole history of Andalusia. It is a blend of North African musical influences and probably with origins of Jewish rhythms, where a guitar accompanies dancing and singing. Artist perform their show in tablaos (El Arenal, Los Gallos, …), which are not spontaneous as they used to, but carried out by professionals. Though aimed at tourism, they yet provide high quality performances. • Horse carriage ride, approximately 50 minutes long, around Maria Luisas’s Park. This extensive, leafy park is Seville’s main green area. With its fountains, flower gardens and mature tress it provides a welcome place to relax during the long, hot summer months. The crescent shaped Plaza de España is of its more striking features. • Boat cruise, one hour trip, departing from the Golden Tower every hour. There are seven bridges over the Guadalquivir river, some of them of the most innovative, modern design. Enjoy the two sides of the river bank: Seville and Triana (the old district named after the Roman emperor Trajan).
