Stamford, CT Public Transportation

Metro-North Railroad (New Haven Line)

Operated by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), the Metro-North Railroad's New Haven Line connects Stamford with New York City's Grand Central Terminal. MTA's entire system serves 12 New York counties and two Connecticut counties. The New Haven Line runs daily; fare is determined by destination and length of trip.

CTTransit

The state-owned CTtransit bus service operates more than 30 local and 12 express bus routes. Most of the 15 routes that provide service to Stamford operate daily. Regular bus fare is $1.75 for adults and $1.40 for children ages 5 to 18. Amtrak

Open daily from midnight to 2:30 AM and 4:30 AM to midnight, the Stamford Amtrak station is located at Washington Boulevard and South State Street. The station serves the Vermonter, which offers daily service between Washington DC and St. Albans, Vermont, as well as the Northeast Regional, which offers service between Boston and Virginia Beach. In addition to the Vermonter and Northeast Regional, the Stamford station serves the Acela Express, which offers rush hour service between New York, Washington DC, Baltimore and Philadelphia, as well as roundtrip service between New York and Boston.
