Trinidad and Tobago's tropical climate has two distinct seasons. The wet season, which runs June to December, has sunny mornings, rainy afternoons and fair nights. At some point between mid-September and mid-October, the weather feature known as Petit Carme occurs. Often referred to as an Indian Summer in other climates, the Petit Carme brings an invigorating burst of warmth and brilliant sunshine.

The dry season, which lasts January to May, is characterized by mostly sunny days and occasional light showers. Positioned outside the Caribbean hurricane belt, Trinidad and Tobago are normally unaffected by hurricane season.

Though Tobago's climate is slightly cooler, Trinidad and Tobago see a year-round average daytime temperature of 28°C. The best time to visit the islands is during the dry season, when temperatures are pleasant, little rainfall occurs and humidity is low.
