St. Pietersberg hill

Recreation
10 minutes away
You are sure to enjoy both the view from the fort and the stories told by your guide, mixing history with anecdotes and humour. The fort dates from around 1700 and is largely still intact, with parts recently restored. The fort is made up of several levels and is equipped with various large and small cannons and mortars. Your guide will show you beautiful and interesting spots in and around the fort, taking you back in time! Deep below the St Pietersberg hill lies hidden a very unique piece of Maastricht history. Journey 30 metres below ground with one of our Official Maastricht Guides during a visit to the caves in St Pietersberg hill. No reception, no sound, no light... But you do get a glimpse of the 60-kilometre-long tunnel system made up of about 8,000 passages and a guide who takes you on a journey back in time and tells you the stories about the intriguing events that once took place here.

In the beautiful hilly landscape of South Limburg in the mountain village of Vijlen near the border triangle at Vaals you will find the naturally sustainably cultivated vineyards of the St Martinus Wine Estate, the oldest red-wine vineyard in the Netherlands. Internationally acclaimed wines have been sustainably produced in our own wine cellars since 1988. Thanks in part to the unique and environmentally friendly production methods used, oenologist Stan Beurskens and his team produce amazingly good wines.

Zuid-Limburg

Historical landmark
Zuid-Limburg is the southernmost and sunniest region of The Netherlands! Zuid-Limburg borders on Germany in the east and on Belgium in the south and west. As the centre of this border triangle, Germany – The Netherlands – Belgium, Zuid-Limburg boasts a boundless diversity in a small area. *Different from the rest of The Netherlands To the south, Zuid-Limburg borders on the foothills of the Ardennes (Belgium), High Fens (Belgium), and Eifel (Germany). This gives the region its character, which is not typical for the Netherlands at all; Zuid-Limburg’s wide and gently rolling hills are in strong contrast with the otherwise thoroughly flat Dutch landscape!

Maastricht

Historical landmark
10 minutes away

Majestic churches and cosy pavement cafes. Spectacular festivals and spacious squares. Maastricht has it all! It is with reason that Maastricht is a popular destination for both shopping and weekend breaks.
