Vancouver Convention Centre, BC Meeting Planning Overview

Located in the heart of downtown, the newly expanded Vancouver Convention Centre is the hub of a bustling network of large convention hotels, restaurants and shops that cater to tourists and business travelers alike. Venue in the Vancouver Convention Centre area are varied and well equipped for groups.

Just nine miles from the Vancouver International Airport and conveniently situated along the city's SkyTrain transit lines, the Convention Centre district represents the go-to destination for event planners, with a spectacular waterfront setting and venue and accommodation options suitable for the largest of groups.

The convention center itself has a total of 466,500 square feet of stunning waterfront meeting space in two interconnected buildings. Its 72 configurable meeting rooms range from 500-7,500 square feet, and it also features Canada's largest convention center waterfront ballroom, a 53,000-square-foot facility with five-story ceilings and breathtaking mountain and water views.

Hotel venues in the Vancouver Convention Centre district include the waterfront 504-room Pan Pacific Vancouver, which has 42,000 square feet of event space and a 6,808-square-foot ballroom. Across the street, the 489-room Fairmont Waterfront features 24,000 square feet of total meeting space, with a 7,050-square-foot ballroom. Nearby, the newly built 489-room Fairmont Pacific Rim has 15,000 square feet of event space and a large meeting room of 4,200 square feet. Other options include the 225-room Delta Vancouver Suites (19,000 square feet of event space) and the 60-room Terminal City Tower Hotel.

Off-site event venues near the Vancouver Convention Centre include the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue, which is affiliated with Simon Fraser University and can seat up to 200 people in 16,000 total square feet of meeting space. Among other popular options are Smiley's Public House, an elegant neighborhood pub capable of hosting up to 230 people seated in 3,500 square feet of space; and the Canvas Lounge, a chic, modern 8,700-square-foot venue that can host 60 people seated or 400 for a reception.

The Convention Centre district has numerous dining options capable of hosting large groups. Rogue Kitchen + Wet Bar, in the historic Waterfront transit station, can seat up to 375 people. The elegant Aqua Riva Restaurant, right next to the Convention Centre, can seat 200 people, while the Five Sails Restaurant, located inside the Pan Pacific Hotel with breathtaking water views, can seat 120 people. Nearby, Al Porto Ristaurante serves fine Italian cuisine and can seat 220, and Imperial Chinese Seafood Restaurant offers elegant, modern Chinese for up to 225 people.
