Dallas' spanking-new neighborhood of Victory Park is a 75-acre, $3-billion playground of shopping, restaurants and cool living, anchored by the American Airlines Center, Victory Park's first tenant and home to both the NBA's Dallas Mavericks and NHL's Dallas Stars. Let's just say that finding stellar meeting venues in Victory Park is not a problem.
Wedged into totally renovated space in the western section of central Dallas between interstates 30 and 35E, just north of Dallas' Historic District, Victory Park has its own Dallas Area Rapid Transit and Trinity Railway Express stations that directly link it to Dallas Love Field Airport (4.5 miles away; DAL), Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (15 miles; DFW) and Fort Worth.
Chief among meeting venues in Victory Park, the American Airlines Center has function space ranging from 140 square feet to 10,000, which can put on events for 12 persons up to 20,000. Its outdoor entrance, the AT&T Plaza, can cater to a further 3,000 and comes complete with high-definition screens. One favorite area in the center is the Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 Club, which has space for up to 666 persons on two floors and overlooks the Dallas Mavericks' practice court and backstage area.
Victory Park has both a House of Blues (for events of up to 2,200 people) and a Hard Rock Cafe (for up to 300), and coming in early 2013 will be the $185-million (Ross) Perot Museum of Nature and Science, an expansion facility of the existing Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas' neighborhood of Fair Oaks. It, too, will have event space.
Currently, the only hotel is the 252-room W Dallas-Victory. Inside are the Tom Colicchio Craft restaurant, a sister to New York City's Craftsteak and Gramercy Tavern restaurants, and the still-very-trendy, Las Vegas-sibling GhostBar on the 33rd floor. Also offered are the Bliss Spa and an infinity pool with stunning views of Dallas. All in all, one really has no need to leave, considering on site are 11,000 square feet of function and meeting space, including the 4,300-square-foot Great Room for up to 420 persons.
Victory Park features two up-market restaurants—Kenichi, serving Japanese, and Naga Thai, with Thai cuisine. Classic, American-fare restaurant and pub, Dick's Last Resort, claims it's for everyone and has "live music every night featuring questionable bands playing classic rock, and there's never a cover charge."
