Wellington, New Zealand Meeting Planning Overview

The capital city of Wellington is a compact center of vibrant arts and culture, innovative businesses, rich history, and delicious cuisine, with more than 350 restaurants. Celebrated as New Zealand's creative and culinary heart, Wellington is famous for its dining scene, coffee, local wine, and craft beer. The region is also known for its strengths in creative technologies, scientific research, and public and professional services, as well as serving as a filming location for blockbuster movies.

The city is compact and accessible, so walking is often the easiest mode of transportation. In fact, you can walk from one side of the city to the other in 30 minutes. Wellington features nearly 3,000 hotel rooms within walking distance of the central business district, and seven of the city's major venues are just five minutes apart. The variety of event spaces can accommodate meetings, conventions, and conferences, and its fun attractions are perfect for pre- and post-meeting activities.

Scheduled to open in 2022, the Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre will be located in the heart of Wellington's cultural area and within walking distance of public transport and hotels. It will feature 12 breakout rooms, conference space for up to 1,500 people, banquet space for up to 1,400 people, and an outdoor balcony with views of the city and harbor. Located on the waterfront, the TSB Arena & Auditorium can host major conferences, exhibitions, concerts, and trade shows, while the Lower Hutt Events Centre can accommodate events of up to 1,000 people in its two interconnected rooms, airy atrium, and adjoining town hall.

Meeting travelers can arrive via Wellington International Airport. It's one of New Zealand's largest, offering direct flights from Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, and serving as a major travel hub for flights operating within New Zealand.
